Girl Dinner Cheese Boards

In this workshop, we’re getting hands-on with slab building to create beautiful, functional serving platters and cheese boards.

You’ll learn how to roll and compress clay slabs evenly before shaping them into everything from simple flat platters to sculpted, wavy and textured forms. We’ll look at how to dry your pieces carefully to help prevent cracking, warping and stress fractures, so your finished board has the best chance of making it through the drying process successfully.

We’ll also have fun with surface decoration, experimenting with stamps, doilies and natural textures to create patterns and personality across your piece.

From there, you’ll learn how to add practical details including hand grips, handles and indents for dips or sauces. You can keep things classic with a traditional platter or experiment with more organic designs, including oyster-style boards.

This is a fun, functional project that you can use at home, fill with your favourite snacks or give as a handmade gift to someone special.

This workshop is ideal for all skill levels and is a great way to explore slab building while creating something you'll actually use.
